Hey Flavia,
You make some very good points there. The violence quotient is very high in the book. My review might have been colored by the different cultural standards for violence in media in the United States versus in Europe, not saying that it is right, just how I was raised. Nonetheless, readers should heed Flavia's warnings about scenes of semi-intense violence that are in Stardust and I would not recommend the book for very young children.
Thanks for the comment!

I agree with most parts of your review but one: I don't think Stardust is suitable for little children, even if there weren't any sexual descriptions, which could perhaps be shortened or left out by the person who reads the novel to children.
The chapter which talks about the events at the inn seems very cruel to me. Only one page is needed to describe the bloody end of Lord Primus and the not-less bloody end of the unicorn. In addition, the witch-queen is badly injured, too; and is intending to kill the star with her knives. Even more shocking is the scene where the witch-quenn hacks off the unicorn's head, and sees her sisters in the pool formed by blood.
I don't think these scenes are a problem to any adult or teen-aged reader, but children use to have nightmares about such stories, of which they sometimes don't realize they're fiction.
Nice book nevertheless, we've read it at school =)
so pls excuse my English, hope you've understood what I meant.
