Yeah, I never saw anything instructing you how to open things, but I discovered this almost immediately due to the glowing aspect. The waypoint thing was accidental as well, but who really needs it? also, there is no aim assist, sorry. But that's for pansies, anyway. The red explosive barrels hurt everything I threw them at or blew them up next to. They are wonderful for killing those stupid little swarming Necros. Also, not sure when the things appear behind you without warning, they usually do the crash/screech thing you mention. I never encountered a situation where something did not give me adequate time to react. Good overall breakdown tho.

Both the cases lining the floor which open and the Xbox looking things are lit up. The former is an interact while the latter is a destroy, pretty confusing if you happen to miss a text prompt that doesn’t interrupt the game, especially on something so important. If they do tell you to open the crates or use the second thumbstick to light up the way, it was missed by me and three other separate people I asked about it. The people I asked related a similar story to mine, which is they didn’t know until they accidentally did it. For the waypoint system I didn’t figure it out until much later, because as I relayed in the write-up it doesn’t do anything while in any in-game cutscene or during elevator rides.

The game does indeed tell you to bust open crates (of which you should be able to tell yourself since they light up like every item you're meant to collect) and does tell you R3/clicking the second thumbstick tells you which way to go.

I found the asteroid game perfect. It does have slight aim assist though
